Law of First Mention

Where Does the Bible First Mention Heaven?

The Bible first mentions heaven in Genesis 1:1, from the original word shamayim (שמים). The very first verse of Scripture names heaven—'In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth'—establishing from the outset a realm beyond the earthly.

The Seed of Everything That Follows

Scripture's first sentence assumes a Creator and a realm that is His throne.
