Bible Chapter Summary
1 Chronicles 10 Summary
Saul's Death and the Kingdom Transition
This chapter describes the final battle where the Philistines defeated Israel. Saul and his three sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchi-shua were slain on Mount Gilboa. Saul, wounded by archers, took his own sword and fell upon it; his armourbearer did likewise. The Philistines stripped Saul's body, took his head and armor, and displayed them in their temples. The men of Jabesh-gilead retrieved the bodies and gave them honorable burial. The chapter concludes that Saul died for his transgression against the LORD and for consulting a familiar spirit, and that the kingdom was turned to David.
