Bible Chapter Summary
1 John 5 Summary
Victory Through Faith and Assurance of Eternal Life
John declares that faith in Jesus as the Christ is the victory that overcomes the world, and those born of God keep His commandments which are not grievous. He testifies to Jesus as the one who came by water and blood, with the Spirit bearing witness. Believers who hold this faith have the eternal life that God gave in His Son, and those with the Son have life while those without Him have no life. The chapter closes with assurance that believers know they have eternal life and warns against idols.
