Bible Chapter Summary
2 Chronicles 29 Summary
Hezekiah's Temple Cleansing and Rededication
Hezekiah begins to reign at age twenty-five and reigns twenty-nine years. He does right in the LORD's sight like his father David. In his first year, he opens and repairs the doors of the temple, summoning priests and Levites to sanctify themselves and cleanse the house. Over sixteen days, they remove all uncleanness from the temple. Hezekiah then brings bullocks, rams, and lambs as sin offerings, commanding the priests to sacrifice them. The people, princes, and Levites worship with instruments of David, and the king commands thank offerings. A great burnt offering is made with music and worship, so abundant that the priests lack sufficient hands to process them all.
