Bible Chapter Summary

2 Kings 7 Summary

The Siege Lifted and Famine Ended

Elisha prophesies that within a day food will be abundant and cheap in Samaria's gate, though a lord doubts him and is told he will see it but not eat it. Four leprous men at the city gate, facing certain death from famine, venture to the Syrian camp and find it abandoned; the LORD had made the Syrians hear the noise of a great host and they fled. The lepers discover provisions, silver, gold, and raiment left behind. Realizing they must report the good news, they tell the city gate keepers, and the people plunder the Syrian camp, fulfilling Elisha's word exactly as he spoke. The doubting lord is trampled at the gate and dies, never tasting the provision he refused to believe in.
