Bible Chapter Summary
Exodus 4 Summary
Moses Commissioned With Signs and Aaron
God addresses Moses's fears of disbelief by granting him three miraculous signs: his rod turns into a serpent and back, his hand becomes leprous and is healed, and Nile water poured on dry land will become blood. When Moses protests his lack of eloquence, God appoints his brother Aaron as spokesman, and the LORD's anger is kindled at Moses's reluctance. Moses then departs from Midian with his family, and on the journey Zipporah circumcises their son in a mysterious episode that averts divine judgment. Upon arriving, Moses and Aaron gather the elders of Israel, perform the signs before the people, and the people believe and worship God upon hearing that He has seen their affliction.
