Bible Chapter Summary
Ezekiel 16 Summary
Jerusalem's Harlotry and Judgment
God instructs Ezekiel to cause Jerusalem to know her abominations. God compares Jerusalem to a foundling born of Amorite father and Hittite mother, left unwashed and cast out in blood. When God passed by and saved her, she flourished in beauty and became great. But Jerusalem trusted in her beauty and played the harlot, building high places and committing sexual sin with many nations. She sacrificed her children to idols and continued in abominations more than her sister cities. God declares He will gather all her lovers and judge her as women that break wedlock are judged—stripping her, breaking down her places, and burning her houses. Yet God promises to establish an everlasting covenant and restore her with Sodom and Samaria.
