Jeremiah 39 Summary

Jerusalem Falls, Jeremiah Freed

Nebuchadrezzar besieges and takes Jerusalem; Zedekiah flees but is captured, his sons and nobles slain, and his eyes put out. The king's house and walls are burned; captives are carried to Babylon. The captain of the guard frees Jeremiah to Gedaliah's care. God assures Ebed-melech that though judgment comes, He will deliver him because he trusted in the Lord.

Jeremiah 39:2

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
