Bible Chapter Summary
Jeremiah 49 Summary
Judgment on Ammon, Edom, Damascus, and Eastern Nations
The Lord spoke judgment against the Ammonites for taking Gad; Rabbah would become a desolate heap and Israel would inherit what was theirs. Against Edom, the Lord said He had made Esau bare and uncovered his secret places; though Edom dwelt in the clefts of the rock like the eagle, the Lord would bring him down. Damascus would be weakened, her young men would fall in the streets, and fire would consume the palaces of Ben-hadad. Against Kedar and Hazor, Nebuchadrezzar would spoil their tents, flocks, and vessels. Against Elam, the Lord would break the bow of their might and scatter them to all winds, though He would restore them in the latter days.
