Bible Chapter Summary

Job 27 Summary

Job Declares His Integrity Before God

Job swears by the living God, who has taken his judgment and vexed his soul, that while his breath remains and God's spirit is in his nostrils, his lips will not speak wickedness and his tongue will not utter deceit. He will not justify his friends but will hold fast his righteousness till death, refusing to let his integrity go; his heart will not reproach him as long as he lives. Let his enemy become as the wicked and the unrighteous, Job says. He will teach by the hand of God what is with the Almighty and will not conceal it. Yet Job describes the portion of the wicked with God: their children will be for the sword, their offspring will not be satisfied with bread, the righteous will put on their silver, and they will perish like a moth or a temporary booth.
