Job 29 Summary

Job's Past Prosperity and Honored Status

Job remembers the months past when God preserved him, when His candle shined upon his head and he walked through darkness by God's light. The secret of God was upon his tabernacle and the Almighty was with him when his children surrounded him. He washed his steps with butter and the rock poured out rivers of oil. When he went to the city gate and prepared his seat in the street, young men hid themselves and the aged stood up; princes refrained from talking and laid their hand on their mouth. When the ear heard him it blessed him and the eye saw him and gave witness, because he delivered the poor, the fatherless, and those with no helper. He wore righteousness like a robe and judgment like a diadem; he was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame, a father to the poor, breaking the jaws of the wicked and taking spoil from their teeth.
