Bible Chapter Summary

Judges 13 Summary

The Birth of Samson Foretold

Israel again does evil and is given into Philistine hands for forty years. The angel of the LORD appears to the barren wife of Manoah, announcing she will bear a son who is to be a Nazarite from the womb and will begin to deliver Israel. Manoah prays for the messenger to return and is instructed again; when their offering is consumed and the angel ascends in the flame, they realize they have seen God. The woman bears Samson, the LORD blesses him, and the Spirit begins to stir him.
