Judges 15 Summary

Samson's Vengeance and the Jawbone

Finding his wife given to another, Samson catches three hundred foxes, ties firebrands to their tails, and burns the Philistines' grain, vineyards, and olives; in reprisal the Philistines burn his wife and her father. Samson strikes them and withdraws to the rock Etam. When the men of Judah bind him and hand him over, the Spirit of the LORD rushes on him; he breaks the cords and slays a thousand men with the jawbone of an ass. Crying out in thirst, he is revived by water God brings from a hollow place, and he judges Israel twenty years.
