Judges 17 Summary

Micah's Idols and Hired Priest

A man of Ephraim named Micah restores stolen silver to his mother, who dedicates it to make a graven and molten image. Micah sets up a shrine with an ephod and teraphim and consecrates one of his sons as priest. A wandering Levite from Bethlehem-judah comes by, and Micah hires him as his personal priest, believing the LORD will now bless him. The narrator notes that in those days there was no king in Israel, and every man did what was right in his own eyes.
