Luke 1 Summary
The Announcement of John and Jesus
Luke addresses Theophilus with the aim of writing an orderly account. The angel Gabriel announces John birth to Zechariah, then Jesus birth to Mary. Mary sings the Magnificat: God has lifted the humble and filled the hungry. Zechariah sings the Benedictus. The forerunner and the Messiah are both announced as fulfillment of Israel hope.
