Numbers 29 Summary

Sacred Feasts and Appointed Offerings

Numbers 29 prescribes the specific sacrificial offerings required for three holy convocations in the seventh month: the Feast of Trumpets on the first day, a solemn fast on the tenth day (the Day of Atonement), and the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles beginning on the fifteenth day. During the Feast of Tabernacles, bullocks are offered in a descending sequence each day—from thirteen on the first day down to seven on the seventh—while rams remain two and lambs fourteen throughout, each day accompanied by a goat for a sin offering. An eighth-day solemn assembly closes the Feast of Tabernacles with a reduced offering of one bullock, one ram, and seven lambs alongside a sin offering. Moses conveyed all of these divine commands to the children of Israel, and the chapter concludes by noting that these appointed offerings are in addition to personal vows, freewill offerings, and peace offerings.
