Bible Chapter Summary
Psalm 40 Summary
Praise for Deliverance and New Song
The psalmist waited patiently for the Lord, who heard his cry, brought him out of a horrible pit of miry clay, set his feet on a rock, and established his going. God put a new song of praise in his mouth, and the psalmist testifies that many shall see this and fear and trust the Lord. He declares that God's wonderful works are innumerable, deems sacrifice less important than opened ears and obedient will, and has preached God's righteousness in the congregation.
