Psalms 46 Summary

God is our refuge and fortress

The psalmist declares that God is a refuge and strength, a present help in all trouble, so that even if the earth is removed and mountains carried into the sea, the faithful should not fear. There is a river whose streams gladden the city of God, and though the heathen rage and kingdoms are moved, God is in the midst of His city and will help her early. The LORD of hosts commands wars to cease throughout the earth, breaks weapons, and calls all to be still and know that He is God, exalted among all nations.
