Bible Chapter Summary
Revelation 18 Summary
The Fall and Mourning of Babylon
An angel comes down from heaven with great power, proclaiming mightily that Babylon the great is fallen and become the habitation of devils and every unclean spirit. Another voice calls God's people to come out of her that they not be partakers of her sins and plagues, for her iniquities have reached heaven. Her plagues come in one day—death, mourning, famine, and fire—for she glorified herself and lived deliciously, saying in her heart she shall see no sorrow. The kings of the earth who committed fornication with her stand afar off, beholding the smoke of her burning and lamenting her fall. The merchants of the earth, who were made rich by her delicacies, also weep and mourn, listing the merchandise no man shall buy anymore. A mighty angel takes up a stone like a millstone and casts it into the sea, saying Babylon shall be thrown down with violence and found no more at all, and the voices of harpers, musicians, and the bridegroom shall be heard no more in her.
