Christ addresses four churches through John. Ephesus is praised for rejecting false apostles but rebuked for abandoning its first love. Smyrna, though poor, is rich in spirit and must endure ten days of tribulation. Pergamos holds Christ's name but harbors those teaching Balaam's doctrine. Thyatira is praised for growing works but suffers a prophetess named Jezebel who seduces to fornication and idolatry.
