Bible Chapter Summary

Romans 9 Summary

God's Election and Mercy to Jews and Gentiles

Paul expresses great sorrow for Israel, for whom belong the adoption, covenants, law, and promises. He explains that not all Israel are the children of God; the children of the promise are counted for the seed. God's purpose according to election stands, not of works but of Him that calleth. God has mercy on whom He will and hardens whom He will, making vessels of mercy and vessels of wrath fitted to destruction, called from both Jews and Gentiles.
