What Was Lost
The deliberate remaining. Hypo (under) + meno (remain) = choosing to stay underneath. Endurance was not 'surviving until it's over' but 'deliberately remaining in position under crushing weight because the mission requires it.' Jesus 'endured the cross' -- He stayed under the weight by choice, for joy.

Greek hypomeno ('to remain under/stay beneath the crushing weight/hold your position under fire') passivized into 'put up with.' The active, deliberate, position-holding dimension was replaced by resigned tolerance.
