1 Chronicles 13 Summary

The Ark Brought from Kirjath-jearim

David consults with Israel's leaders and proposes gathering the nation to bring the ark of God from Kirjath-jearim, since it was neglected in Saul's time. All the people agree, and David assembles Israel to fetch the ark. However, when Uzza puts forth his hand to steady the ark as the oxen stumble, the Lord's anger is kindled and he smites Uzza dead before God. Grieved and afraid, David leaves the ark at the house of Obed-edom the Gittite, where it remains three months and the Lord blesses Obed-edom's household.
