Bible Chapter Summary
1 Chronicles 14 Summary
David's House and Victories over Philistines
Hiram king of Tyre sends messengers, timber, and craftsmen to build David a house, and David perceives that the Lord has confirmed him king and lifted up his kingdom. David takes more wives and fathers many children at Jerusalem. When the Philistines hear that David is anointed king, they go up to seek him; David inquires of the Lord, who commands him to go up and promises to deliver them. David defeats the Philistines at Baal-perazim, and after they burn their idols, they attack again; the Lord directs David to circle around and attack near the mulberry trees, and David prevails again. Thus David's fame spreads throughout all lands and the Lord brings fear of him upon all nations.

So they came up to Baal-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.”
1 Chronicles 14:14-16
“Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines. David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.”
