Bible Chapter Summary

1 John 3 Summary

Children of God and Righteousness

John marvels that God calls believers His sons and daughters, though the world does not recognize them. He teaches that when Christ appears, believers will become like Him. True children of God practice righteousness as He is righteous and do not sin; those who sin belong to the devil. Love for the brethren is the mark of faith, and believers prove their love not in words but in deeds toward those in need, demonstrated supremely in Christ's sacrifice.
