Bible Chapter Summary
1 Kings 22 Summary
Ahab's Defeat and Micaiah's True Prophecy
Ahab and Jehoshaphat plan to reclaim Ramoth-gilead from Syria. Four hundred prophets falsely declare success, but Micaiah prophesies that Ahab will die in battle. The LORD puts a lying spirit in the false prophets' mouths to persuade Ahab to his destruction. At Ramoth-gilead, a stray arrow wounds Ahab and he dies as the sun sets. The chapter concludes with notes on Jehoshaphat's reign in Judah and Ahaziah's evil reign in Israel.
