Bible Chapter Summary
1 Kings 4 Summary
Solomon's Kingdom and Prosperity
Solomon establishes a network of twelve officers throughout Israel to provide provisions for him and his household monthly. He enjoys great dominion from the river Euphrates to the Egyptian border, with all neighboring kings bringing him tribute and serving him. The kingdoms of Judah and Israel eat, drink, and make merry under his peaceful rule, dwelling safely under their vines and fig trees. Solomon possesses vast numbers of horses, chariots, and horsemen, with provisions of fine flour, meat, oxen, sheep, and fowl. God grants him extraordinary wisdom, surpassing all the children of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt, and people from all nations come to hear his wisdom.
