Bible Chapter Summary

1 Peter 4 Summary

Suffering as Christians and Judgment to Come

Peter exhorts believers to arm themselves with Christ's mind of suffering, ceasing from sin and living to God's will rather than men's lusts. He warns that the end of all things is at hand; believers must be sober, watch unto prayer, and have fervent charity. Though the fiery trial may come, those reproached for Christ's name are happy, for God's spirit rests upon them. Peter cautions against suffering as evildoers, and declares that judgment must begin at God's house and that righteous souls must be committed to a faithful Creator.
