Bible Chapter Summary
1 Samuel 12 Summary
Samuel's Farewell and Warning
Samuel addresses all Israel, reminding them that he made their king according to their request and rehearses God's righteous acts on their behalf. He calls them to repentance and obedience, warning that if they rebel against God's commandment, His hand will be against them as it was against their fathers. Samuel demonstrates God's power by calling upon the Lord to send thunder and rain during harvest, a sign of the people's sin in requesting a king. He encourages them to serve the Lord with all their heart rather than turning to vain things, assuring them that God will not forsake His people.
