Bible Chapter Summary
1 Samuel 9 Summary
Saul Seeks His Father's Asses
Kish, a mighty man of Benjamin, loses his asses and sends his son Saul, a choice and goodly young man, with a servant to find them. After searching through several lands without success, they come to the land of Zuph where the servant tells Saul of a man of God (Samuel) in the city who might reveal their way. They go up to the city and meet Samuel coming down from the high place. The Lord has told Samuel that He will send a man from Benjamin to be captain over Israel to save His people from the Philistines. Samuel recognizes Saul, invites him to eat with him, and bestows upon him the reserved portion. Samuel communes with Saul and promises to tell him all that is in his heart.
