Bible Chapter Summary
1 Samuel 10 Summary
Saul Anointed King and Prophesies
Samuel takes a vial of oil and pours it upon Saul's head, kissing him and saying the Lord has anointed him captain over His inheritance. Samuel gives Saul three signs to confirm the anointing: two men will tell him his asses are found near Rachel's sepulchre, three men going to Beth-el will give him two loaves of bread, and at the hill of God he will meet a company of prophets and the Spirit of the Lord will come upon him, turning him into another man. When these signs come to pass, Saul is to do as occasion serves, for God is with him. When Saul turns his back from Samuel, God gives him another heart and all the signs come to pass. At the hill, the Spirit of God comes upon him and he prophesies among the prophets, causing the people to marvel.
