Bible Chapter Summary
1 Thessalonians 2 Summary
Paul's Faithful Ministry and the Church's Suffering
Paul recounts how he, Silvanus, and Timotheus preached the gospel to the Thessalonians boldly after suffering shameful treatment at Philippi, doing so not to please men but God who tries hearts. They exhorted each one as a father his children, imparting not merely the gospel but also their own souls because the Thessalonians were dear to them. The church became followers of the Judean churches in Christ Jesus, suffering like things from their own countrymen as the Judean churches suffered from the Jews. Paul assures them they are his glory and joy in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ at His coming.
