Bible Chapter Summary
1 Thessalonians 4 Summary
Exhortation to Holiness and the Resurrection
Paul exhorts the Thessalonians to abound more and more in walking to please God, emphasizing that God's will is their sanctification—abstaining from fornication and possessing their vessel in sanctification and honour. He reminds them that God has called them not unto uncleanness but unto holiness and that the Lord is the avenger of all who defraud their brethren. Regarding those who sleep in death, Paul reveals by the word of the Lord that the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout and the voice of the archangel, raising the dead in Christ first, after which they who are alive shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air.
