Bible Chapter Summary
1 Timothy 1 Summary
Charge Against False Doctrine
Paul greets Timothy and commands him to charge certain people not to teach false doctrines, warning against fables and endless genealogies that cause disputes rather than godly edification. He explains that the law is good when used lawfully, serving to condemn the ungodly and sinners. Paul testifies of his own transformation from blasphemer and persecutor to apostle through Christ's abundant grace and mercy, presenting himself as an example of God's longsuffering. He charges Timothy to war a good warfare by holding faith and a good conscience.
