2 Chronicles 22 Summary

Ahaziah's Brief Reign and Death

Jehoram's youngest son Ahaziah, made king at age forty-two, reigns for one year following wicked counsel from his mother Athaliah, daughter of Omri. He fights alongside Israel's King Joram against Syria, is wounded, and allies with the Northern Kingdom. This brings him into conflict with Jehu, whom God anointed to destroy Ahab's house. Jehu kills Ahaziah, and Athaliah, seeing her son dead, murders all the royal seed to claim the throne.
