2 Chronicles 24 Summary

Joash Repairs the Temple, Then Turns Away

King Joash, beginning his reign at age seven, does right in the LORD's sight while Jehoiada the priest guides him. Together they repair the temple of the LORD, gathering donations from Israel and Judah. The temple restoration is completed and furnishings are made from the remaining funds. After Jehoiada dies at one hundred thirty years old, Judah's princes persuade Joash to abandon the LORD and serve idols. God sends prophets to call them back, but they refuse. When the prophet Zechariah (Jehoiada's son) rebukes them, Joash commands the people to stone him to death in the temple court.
