2 Chronicles 26 Summary

Uzziah's Strength and Transgression

Uzziah becomes king at age sixteen and reigns fifty-two years. He seeks God through the prophet Zechariah and prospers, warring successfully against Philistines, Arabians, and Ammonites while strengthening Jerusalem's fortifications and military. His fame spreads to Egypt. However, his heart becomes proud in his strength and he transgresses by entering the temple to burn incense himself, contrary to the law. When the priests Azariah and eighty others confront him, he angrily refuses. Leprosy immediately appears on his forehead, and he is thrust out, remaining a leper until his death, isolated from the temple.
