Bible Chapter Summary
2 Corinthians 10 Summary
Apostolic Authority and Spiritual Warfare
Paul appeals to the Corinthians by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, noting that though he is base in presence among them, he is bold when absent. He urges them not to compel him to be bold with confidence against those who think the apostles walk according to the flesh. While the apostles walk in the flesh, they do not war after the flesh, but their weapons are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Paul defends his apostolic authority, given for edification and not destruction, and warns against self-commendation, teaching that true approval comes from the Lord's commendation, not one's own.
