Bible Chapter Summary
2 Corinthians 9 Summary
Sowing and Reaping in Generosity
Paul addresses the ministry to the saints and praises the Corinthians' forwardness and zeal, which he has boasted of to Macedonia. He sends brethren ahead to prepare their bounty beforehand so that it might be ready as a matter of bounty and not of covetousness. Paul teaches that he who sows sparingly shall reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully shall reap bountifully, and that every man should give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. He assures them that God is able to make all grace abound toward them so they may have sufficiency in all things and abound to every good work, and he thanks God for His unspeakable gift of Christ.
