Bible Chapter Summary
2 Kings 11 Summary
Jehoiada Restores King Joash
When Athaliah kills the royal sons after her son Ahaziah's death, his sister Jehosheba hides the young Joash in the temple for six years. In the seventh year, the priest Jehoiada orchestrates a covenant with the captains and guards, revealing Joash and crowning him. When Athaliah learns of this, she cries treason but is executed outside the temple. Jehoiada establishes a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, and the city rejoices as Joash begins to reign.
