Bible Chapter Summary
2 Kings 12 Summary
King Joash Repairs the Temple
Joash reigns forty years and does what is right while instructed by Jehoiada the priest, though the high places remain. Joash commands the priests to collect money for temple repairs, but after Jehoiada's time they neglect the work. Joash rebukes them, and they implement a system using a chest by the altar. The collected funds are faithfully distributed to workers who repair the temple. When Hazael of Syria threatens, Joash sends the temple treasures to save the city but eventually dies by conspiracy at the house of Millo.
