2 Kings 15 Summary

Kings and Conspiracies of Israel and Judah

Azariah (Uzziah) reigns over Judah for fifty-two years doing right, but the LORD strikes him with leprosy and he dwells in isolation. His son Jotham rules the land. In Israel, multiple kings arise in rapid succession: Zachariah is slain after six months by Shallum, who himself is overthrown by Menahem. Menahem pays Assyria a thousand talents of silver to maintain his throne. Pekahiah succeeds but is killed by captain Pekah, who reigns twenty years. During Pekah's reign, Tiglath-pileser of Assyria invades and captures many cities, carrying Israel away captive.
