Bible Chapter Summary
2 Kings 22 Summary
Josiah's Reign and Discovery of the Law
Josiah begins to reign at age eight and does right in the Lord's sight, walking in the way of David his father. In his eighteenth year, he sends scribes to gather money for temple repairs and the high priest Hilkiah discovers the book of the law hidden in the temple. Upon hearing the law read, Josiah tears his clothes in distress and sends officials to inquire of the Lord through the prophetess Huldah, who warns that judgment will come upon Jerusalem but promises Josiah peace because his heart was tender and he humbled himself before the Lord.
