Bible Chapter Summary

2 Kings 21 Summary

Manasseh's Evil Reign and Amon's Brief Rule

Manasseh reigns fifty-five years doing great evil, building altars to Baal and idols in the temple, sacrificing his son in fire, and practicing sorcery; the Lord declares judgment through prophets that He will bring calamity upon Jerusalem and forsake His inheritance. After Manasseh dies, his son Amon reigns two years, continuing in the same evil ways and provoking the Lord. Amon's servants conspire and slay him, but the people of the land execute the conspirators and make Josiah, Amon's son, king.
