Bible Chapter Summary
2 Timothy 4 Summary
Final Charge and Paul's Departure
Paul solemnly charges Timothy before God and Christ Jesus to preach the word in season and out of season, reproving and rebuking with longsuffering and doctrine. He warns that a time shall come when people will not endure sound doctrine but will gather teachers to themselves with itching ears. Paul declares he is ready to be offered and that the time of his departure is at hand, having finished his course and kept the faith. He assigns Timothy to come shortly, mentioning those who have abandoned him and asking that Mark be brought along, while commending only Luke for remaining with him.
