Bible Chapter Summary
Acts 21 Summary
Paul's Journey to Jerusalem
Paul travels by ship from Tyre through various coastal cities toward Jerusalem, though disciples warn him through the Spirit not to go there. In Caesarea, Philip's four prophesying daughters and the prophet Agabus further warn him that the Jews will bind him and deliver him to the Gentiles. Paul declares his readiness to die at Jerusalem for Christ and proceeds. Upon arrival, the brethren receive him gladly and he reports to James and the elders about God's work among the Gentiles. The church commends him but warns that Jewish believers zealously keep the law, having heard he teaches Jews to abandon Moses and circumcision. To prove these accusations false, Paul agrees to join four men under a vow and purify himself in the temple. During the purification days, Asian Jews spot Paul in the temple, stir up the people claiming he teaches against the law and brings Gentiles into the holy place, and attempt to kill him until the chief captain and soldiers rescue him.
