Bible Chapter Summary
Deuteronomy 33 Summary
Moses Blesses the Twelve Tribes
Before his death, Moses the man of God pronounces a poetic blessing over each of the twelve tribes of Israel, opening with a majestic declaration of the LORD's sovereignty and love for his people — how he came from Sinai with a fiery law and reigned as king in Jeshurun. Tribe by tribe, Moses speaks distinct blessings: Reuben's survival, Judah's strength in battle, Levi's priestly calling and faithfulness, Benjamin's safety, Joseph's abundant fruitfulness and military might, and briefer blessings on Zebulun, Issachar, Gad, Dan, Naphtali, and Asher. The chapter closes with a doxology celebrating the incomparable God of Jeshurun — an eternal refuge whose everlasting arms drive out Israel's enemies — and a final declaration of Israel's unique happiness as a people saved by the LORD.
