Bible Chapter Summary
Exodus 37 Summary
Bezaleel Crafts the Sacred Furnishings
Bezaleel constructs the ark of shittim wood, overlaying it with pure gold inside and out, fitting it with gold rings and carrying staves, and topping it with a pure gold mercy seat flanked by two beaten-gold cherubim with outstretched wings facing each other. He then makes the table of shittim wood, likewise overlaid with pure gold and equipped with rings, staves, and a complete set of pure gold vessels — dishes, spoons, bowls, and covers. Next, Bezaleel fashions the pure gold lampstand (candlestick) entirely of beaten work, with a central shaft and six branches adorned with almond-shaped bowls, knops, and flowers, together with seven lamps, snuffers, and snuffdishes, all from a single talent of pure gold. Finally, he constructs the foursquare incense altar of shittim wood overlaid with pure gold, complete with horns, a golden crown, rings, and staves, and he prepares the holy anointing oil and the pure incense of sweet spices according to the work of the apothecary.
