Bible Chapter Summary

Ezekiel 1 Summary

Ezekiel's Vision of God's Throne

In the thirtieth year of his life during the captivity of Judah, Ezekiel the priest sees the heavens open by the river Chebar and beholds visions of God. He observes four living creatures, each with four faces and four wings, moving in perfect coordination with four great wheels covered with eyes. Above the firmament over their heads appears the likeness of a sapphire throne, and upon it the appearance of a man clothed in fire and amber, surrounded by brightness. This is the appearance of the glory of the LORD, and when Ezekiel sees it, he falls upon his face.
