The Sword of the LORD Against Israel
Ezekiel is commanded to prophesy judgment against Jerusalem and the land of Israel with metaphorical and literal imagery of the sword. God announces He will draw forth His sword to cut off both the righteous and wicked, signifying complete judgment. The prophecy depicts the sharpened sword of the king of Babylon positioned at Jerusalem's gates, and declares the removal of the crown from the profane wicked prince, overturning the kingdom until the rightful heir comes.
